I recently completed the text Teaching Digital Natives: Partnering for Real Learning by Marc Prensky. I have found this work to be very insightful and I’m looking forward to implementing some of the practices discussed in this text into my own classroom specifically partnering, technology, student passions, and guided questions.
In this informative work, Mark Prensky expounds on his coined term “digital natives” to discuss the wants and needs of a diverse generation of 21st century learners. If students have evolved in the way they learn, rendering previous methods of teaching ineffective, then how do we teach them? Through an in-depth look at his partnering model Prensky encourages 21st century student learning through the integration of technology.
Author Marc Prensky also discusses some very integral education topics throughout this text including real versus relevant as well as people and passions rather than classes and content. So if you have been doubtful about your ability to incorporate partnering or technology into your classroom this book is for you! It is a very easy to understand and follow along, this is coming from someone quite digitally inept- trust me you’ll be fine. This text provides in depth explanations, examples, how-to suggestions, and tips for additional resources. If you have a question regarding partnering, this text has got an answer.
I hope this text will be as beneficial and insightful for you as it has been for me. I’ve included a link below. Feel free to check it out and see what it’s all about- happy partnering!
